Panel Discussion: Combating Human Trafficking in the Travel Industry
Awareness. Identification. Prevention. Action.
January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and this timely panel discussion highlights the travel industry’s critical role in recognizing and preventing exploitation. Hotels, airlines, airports, and transportation providers are uniquely positioned to help identify warning signs and protect vulnerable individuals.
Featuring industry leaders, subject-matter experts, and GBTA Oregon’s Shine the Light nonprofit partner, A Village for One, the panel will explore how trafficking can present itself in travel-related environments and share practical strategies for staff training, reporting, and response.
Attendees will gain increased awareness, a clearer understanding of appropriate response protocols, and insight into how collaboration and leadership can move efforts beyond compliance toward meaningful action.
The GBTA Education Luncheon will take place in the Park Ballroom at Courtyard Portland City Center, a 256-guest-room hotel located in downtown Portland. The hotel offers over 8,000 square feet of flexible meeting space and features a full-service, on-site restaurant, The Social Spoon. Discounted valet parking is available for event attendees at $10, with street parking also available nearby.
